Other Music Festival -April 2018
The inaugural Other Music Festival takes place in Aberdeen in April. The aim is to create spaces where audiences can become familiar with the unique music material, both old and new, of the North East of Scotland while exploring new, exciting sounds and styles from all around the world.
This year the programme celebrates fiddle-led music from Aberdeenshire, the music of the Hungarian Roma tradition, folksong from Poland and the Carpathians well as West African and Latin American inspired Jazz. Audiences can also expect beautiful folk-infused song writing, hard-hitting rap and spoken word from Aberdeen and Glasgow, Indian Bhangra and virtuosic contemporary Swedish folk Music.
Audiences will hear the world in Aberdeen and hope that the festival inspires joy, hope and understanding through entertainment, enquiry and learning. The festival kicks off with a launch event for NAFCo (more on NAFCo later) on 19th April.
Artists include: Paul Anderson, Shona Donaldson, Jani Lang, Janos Kallai, Patsy Reid, Hanka Wojciak and Susanna Jara, Hamlet, Jackill, Nadya Albertsson, Mezcla, Darren Loki McGarvey, Heidi Talbot, Vasen, and Bollywood Brass Band.
Tickets are available from the Aberdeen Box Office.
