Shetland tunes for whistle

with Kenny Hadden, 6th June

age 14+; £40 / £35 Friend of SC&T

Kenny Hadden began playing the whistle in the early 1970s. His 2 main influences have been the whistle players of Ireland, and the repertoire of the Highland bagpipes. He is well known for playing in folk clubs, festivals and particularly in sessions throughout Scotland. He was one of the first 4 tutors in "SC&T" and has probably taught close on 100 students to play traditional Scottish music on both whistle and flute, at beginner, intermediate and advanced level since the organisation started in 1997.

the workshop
Many old Shetland fiddle tunes are very well suited to whistle and flute. This workshop will teach a selection of these ‘common session tunes’ and perhaps one or two more obscure tunes too!
Any suggestions or requests for tunes to learn are welcome - contact Kenny in advance via the SC&T office. Sheet music and recording of tunes will be available to all participants.  A whistle in the key of "D" will be required for this workshop.

* There are two Accordion workshops. Morning sessions 1 & 2 are aimed at level 0/1; Afternoon sessions 1 & 2 are aimed at level 2/3.  The fee is £20 for a morning or afternoon session, £40 to attend all day.
The whistle workshop is an all day workshop.
