Stepping down

11 Dec 2009
Susan Kirkwood stepped down as Chairman of SC&T at the end of November and her contribution over the years (12 years at the head of the organisation) was marked at the End of Term concert in the Lemon Tree on 6th December.

Richard Ward, the new Chairman of SC&T led the thanks, presenVoice of the people CD set and other presentsting Susan with flowers, cards from those participating in the classes, two cakes (the large one was shared out among those attending the concert) and a large parcel. The highlight was then the set of three tunes written especially for the occasion: Slow Air for Susan (by Sandy Tweddle), Miss Susan Kirkwood (by Malcolm Reavell) and The Kirk in the Woods (by Sharon Hasson). The composers, accompanied by Janice Reavell performed the set.

Susan Kirkwood said: I am very grateful for your thanks for the work I have done over the years. The generous gift (the 20 CDs in Topic's "Voice of the People"  series) will keep me singing new songs for some time to come. I have enjoyed being involved with SC&T from its beginning - mainly because it has generated such enthusiasm and commitment from so many people through the years - so I thank all of you.  I will continue to be involved as a volunteer and I wish the new committee all the best for the future.
