Flute 2/3

The "SC&T" flute class is an intermediate level course which looks at all aspects of the playing of Scottish traditional and contemporary dance music and airs on the transverse flute. The class is suitable for "Boehm-system" keyed flutes as well as "simple-system", keyed and unkeyed.

[ N.B.  - Flutes need to be in "concert" pitch ].

Topics to be taught and discussed  will include different playing styles, the various tune types played in Scottish music, common "session" tunes, “fingerwork”, ornamentation, breathing and phrasing, tone production and development,  and also the past and recent history of the flute in Scotland’s traditional music.

Location: MacRobert Building, Aberdeen University

Dates: 10 week term from 13th January

Times: 7pm to 9pm, with a break for refreshment around 8pm
