SC&T Youth - Exciting Composition Workshop Series with Hamish Napier!

Join us for our 2024 Composition Workshop Series with award winning multi instrumentalist Hamish Napier in partnership with the University of Aberdeen Music Department!

Dates & Times:

  • Workshop 1: February 22nd, 7pm (Online on Zoom)
  • Workshop 2: March 7th, 7pm (Online on Zoom)
  • Workshop 3 & Concert: March 14th, 10:30am start with 4 hr workshop, rehearsal, evening meal provided and concert starting at 7pm

  • King’s Pavilion, Aberdeen University, AB24 3FX

Who for:

  • Young musicians aged 16-26 with some previous playing experience.

What to Expect:

  • Learn Hamish's compositional approach
  • Start to compose a tune in Workshop 1 with expert guidance
  • Refine your compositions with feedback in Workshop 2
  • Showcase your work at an evening concert in Workshop 3

Levels Explained

What does level 1 2 3 mean?

These relate to the ability and level the class is aimed at:

0 = Complete beginner – no experience of your instrument.

1 = Beginner – Have only been playing for a short time.  

2 = Intermediate – Have been playing for a while and can play some tunes

3 = Advanced – Can play and learn tunes competently 

0/1, 1/2, 2/3 etc = Both levels are accommodated

No level indicated = This course is open to all levels but some experience is recommended.
