How do we support students?

Student Bursary Places – Free.

Each term, as part of our contract with Aberdeen University, we offer a number of free places to registered Aberdeen University students. In order to apply for a free place please get in touch with us at classes@scottishculture.org . If you are eligible we will provide a discount code for use at the checkout.

50% Student Discount

Students studying in tertiary education at any local Further or Higher Education Establishment are also eligible for a DISCOUNT of 50% on the course fee. Qualifying institutions include (but not limited to) The University of Aberdeen, The Robert Gordon University and North East Scotland College.

Each of these offers is subject to the course being viable to run and the bursary places are offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

SC&T Youth

SC&T Youth caters for young people between the ages of 6 and 26 and all delivery is free at the point of use. You can get in touch with our SC&T Youth team on youth@scottishcculture.org
 

Student Placements and other opportunities

SC&T is run mainly by volunteers and we often have opportunities for students to assist us wiith our activities. These may include assisting with the delivery of classes, assistance with marketing and social media activities, research and project based activities etc. etc.

Levels Explained

What does level 0 1 2 3 mean?

These relate to the ability and level the class is aimed at:

0 = Complete beginner – no experience of your instrument.

1 = Beginner – Have only been playing for a short time.  

2 = Intermediate – Have been playing for a while and can play some tunes

3 = Advanced – Can play and learn tunes competently 

0/1, 1/2, 2/3 etc = Both levels are accommodated

No level indicated = This course is open to all levels but some experience is recommended.  

We will allow movement up or down a level if you find it too easy/difficult. Just let us know early in the term.
