SC&T Youth Taster Sessions
Our Taster Sessions are an exciting opportunity for people of all ages to dip their toes into the rich world of Scottish traditional music. Fueled by a passionate commitment to increasing involvement in traditional music among the youth, SC&T Youth, along with SC&T, host free Family Friendly Taster Sessions throughout the year including one in partnership with the Traditional Music and Song Association, Aberdeen Branch (TMSA).
These sessions offer a welcoming and relaxed environment for young people and their family to explore Scottish traditional music and experiment with various Scottish traditional instruments. The goal is to provide a hands-on and enjoyable experience that sparks interest and curiosity around Scottish traditional music.
During Taster Sessions, all necessary instruments are provided from the SC&T instrument bank and each participant gets their very own penny whistle to take home afterwards. This accessibility ensures that anyone, regardless of their prior musical experience or instrument ownership, can participate and engage fully in the exploration of traditional music.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or someone looking to try out a new instrument, Taster Sessions are designed to be inclusive and cater to a diverse range of interests and abilities. The relaxed atmosphere encourages participants to immerse themselves in the joy of making music while discovering the unique sounds of Scottish traditional instruments.
