Sarah Alexander hails from Buckie, a busy fishing town on the Moray coast. Sarah completed both her Bachelor of Music with Honours and her Professional Graduate Diploma in Education at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Before her studies, Sarah competed in the Scottish music scene, winning the Ladies’ Overall at The Perth Accordion Festival, and competed at The Oban Invitational Masters in The Highlands & Islands Music & Dance Competition. During her studies, she was the recipient of The Agnes Millar Harmony & Counterpoint Prize and performed at The Edinburgh Fringe. Sarah was previously Director of Music and Organist at Williamwood Parish Church and also taught accordion at Glasgow Folk Music Workshop. She also gained an ABRSM Flute Diploma as well as Grade 8 Organ with Distinction. Sarah now works full-time for Aberdeen City Council as a Music Teacher and is a member of Con Anima Chamber Choir , the St John Festival Choir and the Choir of St Andrew's Cathedral. Sarah has been teaching accordion at SC&T for a few years now, and also teaches accordion students at Aberdeen University.
What does level 1 2 3 mean?
These relate to the ability and level the class is aimed at:
0 = Complete beginner – no experience of your instrument.
1 = Beginner – Have only been playing for a short time.
2 = Intermediate – Have been playing for a while and can play some tunes
3 = Advanced – Can play and learn tunes competently
0/1, 1/2, 2/3 etc = Both levels are accommodated
No level indicated = This course is open to all levels but some experience is recommended.
